Sinanan Well, hell. I hate doing these..
My name is Hank and I play World of Warcraft..
I am a long time MMO player, starting with UO, just pre-Trammel then moving to Everquest around Kunark. Neither game really grabbed me, though I wound up founding with several others a community called The Morlocks. I eventually moved into playing Dark Age of Camelot, until Trials of Atlantis started and it became less fun overall. Had marginal guild experiences in general through most of them, though toward the end of DAoC I hooked up with fellow Morlocks in a guild called The Romantics.
I moved to DC and stopped playing for some time, but then started with WoW right around the time Burning Crusade was announced. I played with The Romantics (now in residence on the Alliance side of things,) and puttered. I wound up hooking up with other friends from The Corporation (Another Lum The Mad spinoff site.) but I also started listening to podcasts to better enjoy the game and happened on the instance. After Wrath of the Lich King dropped, the guild I was in broke up and I created Sinanan to test drive AIE. I also started www.deathcoil.org as a log of my experiences playing my Death knight. Around Christmas of 2008, I purchased the WoW battlechest for my girlfriend and got her hooked as well, and she bounced around due to the queues on ER and other realms and we wound up in a tiny guild on Tanaris, the Draconian Assassins.
I wound up becoming an Officer there and had to put my AIE ambitions on hold while filling that role. I spent the better part of the summer playing with DA and we had things rolling pretty well. Since then, I took a second shift job, so my regular play time is mostly on the weekends and the mornings, making my role as an officer useless. I have since stepped down and am now back playing with AIE (the girlfriend has a toon in AIE as well, but she is now an officer in DA.) In all, being an officer was decent work but we had our share of kerfluffles with a group of new members that wanted to build their Ideal raiding guild, but were disappointed when the rest of the membership did not mold to their expectations. It was a tough few weeks to be and officer and it was very hard on the guild in general. I consider Draconian Assassins my main Alliance guild, and if I am not on Earthen Ring, I am likely there. (We are an open an fun loving group. If you want to hang out on the other side, check us out.)
AIE's size seems to make it a bit more stable, and honestly I like being Horde a lot more than Alliance on an RP server. I have had a fine time in guildchat and we have had a wonderful time playing with folks when there was a group to be had. I still write on Deathcoil sometimes but I don't think it will ever be a major WoW Blog.
